DETROIT PISTONS SCOUTING REPORT
SCREEN/ROLL COVERAGE
REPORT
They are dealing with injuries as well as suffering from WeDontGiveAFuckItus being it is game 82 with a monumentally bad season. Duren & Cunningham are listed as out so they are going down the food chain as far as their depth chart. Ivey & Sasser will give you pressure and try to push you into tough contested shots. They aren’t stoppers or elite defenders, but they give effort and are active. They don’t have shot blocking with Wiseman/Metu they will chase down but aren’t shot blockers and rim protectors. With Duren out I am guessing they will go with Wiseman. Mostly they will be in drop opening up floaters and jumpers. Fournier tries, but can be driven on at all times. Flynn is smart and will push up on you, but is only an average defender at best. Be physical with Ivey/Sasser bumping them and creating contact.
SCORING ON THEM IN SCREEN ROLL
REPORT
For a terrible team, they give very good effort. Their guards do a good job pressuring the ball and are active as hell. But they don’t have the ability to stop people and their rim protecting is terrible. Line them up and attack the rim. You definitely can get to the rim on them with screen roll attacks and straight line drives. Push the ball up the floor so they don’t get a chance to setup. With Wiseman in drop there are a lot of mid range pull up opportunities., You are getting a few here and there with our mid range pull ups in the last few games. Your floater will definitely be in play. You’ll have drive and kick opportunities as well as they don’t rotate well after the first/second pass. Be patient and pick them apart.
OPENINGS FOR 3 POINT SHOTS
REPORT
Your 3PT shots will come from mostly spot ups agains this group. Give the ball up on drive kick or a screen/roll and then space the floor. Do your shot prep early and make an effort to get the ball out of your hands quickly to test distance from perimeter defenders on what you think you can get off/not and what ou actually get off. Duren & Thompson are their best shot blockers. When Bagley and/or Wiseman are in the game I would back your screener up and attack to open up the 3PT shot. Sprint to spots get there quickly and do your shot prep. They will ball watch and lose track, you just have to keep moving and be aggressive looking to shoot.Wiseman can block shots at the rim time to time when motivated, but isn’t going to pursue a lot of shots and move out of his area.

Spot up player , only shooting 33% from the 3PT although is 39% in the last 10. Streaky shooter. When he is allowed to get to his spots and keep it comfortable he can settle in and put points on the board. With Cunningham out he will have to do more as far as his offensive role. Scores mostly in the open court, spot ups, and screen roll. You need to pressure up on him 94 feet as he can’t handle the ball like that and doesn’t like when things are uncomfortable. He doesn’t posses the ability to drive past you unless you give him space. Give him fits and stay close. Off the ball contest his shots and have active hands on all of his drives. Stay down on fakes and make everything hard on him. He can’t consistently make contested shots.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Stay connected to him and pressure him at every turn. Not a strong ball handler and you can get multiple deflections/steals against him. On all of his drives active hands get them up and you can get tips. In screen rolls pursue him on the back and look for back taps. You can definitely turn him over , but it has to be a 94 feet wear him the fuck out operation.

Plays with energy. Over dribbles expect a lot of screen rolls and dribble pull ups. Efficient player, crafty with the dribble looking for an angle for his dribble pull up or spot up off the ball on a dribble kick 3pt shot. Not a great playmaker for others just looking to dribble the defender to sleep to pull up in the mid range or in the paint. Will get him in a lot of mid screen/rolls for pop up jumpers. Solid finisher when you give him a wide open lane. Doesn’t do anything elite, just a steady scorer. Was out last game, I would expect him to play this afternoon.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
He is very low turnover. A little loose with the ball where off the ball defenders can swipe at him to make a play on the ball. Stay connected to him and be active with live hands, don’t bail him out with easy fouls. Not a big mistake type. of player, just normal types of turnovers.

REPORT
Spot up player looking for straight line drives or open shots. Not much of an offensive threat on paper for them, but don’t give him open lanes to the rim. You probably won’t match up with him much but good to know him anyways especially if you get crossmatched with him. Contest shots , stay on the ground. He wants you to lunge , jump, and make mistakes to drive you. Athletic player can finish at the rim on an open lane drive. Watch for him crashing boards or cutting. Stay on your feet and contest his shots. Only way he can hurt you is wide open looks from deep, naked straight line drives, or on activity plays. Shooting 37% from the field and only 33% from 3PT, but is capable of putting up double digits.

Pick and roll scorer as well as coming off hand offs. Take his space away, wants to go left. Push him right and give him active hands. Gets a lot of balls tipped. Push up on him and make things hard for him. Pick him up 94 feet and frustrate the fuck out of him. Good pop up jump shooter, when you give him space. Coming off screen rolls and hand offs mostly. Contest everything and give him active hands. Gets a lot of passes deflected as well as back tapped.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Active hands on him and make things hard. In every drive, screen , roll, and hand off drive show active hands and get in the passing lane. He will get balls tipped if you are active. Make everything hard and attack his dribble.

Crafty looking for straight line drives and attacks for floaters. Mostly a spot up player with screen rolls and hand offs as well. Push up non him and show hands. He is crafty using his body on drives. Show hands be active with him and stay on your feet. Don’t go for any of his fakes before or after drives. Not very efficient in his role with them, but can get hot. He’s like one of those pain in the ass French Guys you see in the movies that no one likes. Good floater, stay on the ground against him don’t let him get a head start on his drive. Only shooting 22% from 3PT and hasn’t done much in the last 10, which definitely means he will go for 50 and make me look like an asshole.
