GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS SCOUTING REPORT
SCREEN/ROLL COVERAGE
REPORT
Average Screen & Roll Defensive Team. Limited shot blocking as Jackson Davis is their biggest rim protecting threat. Payton Jr/Paul/Wiggins gives them their biggest on the ball defensive threats. Paul will look to swipe and foul the fuck out of you to try to get steals. They switch a lot with Green/Jackson-Davis/Kuminga being the most frequent bigs to switch on to the ball handler in screen/roll. Be aggressive looking to get to the rim. Vic Rolls/Pops on screen/roll can free up a lot for you for floaters and getting to the rim. Be aware of cheap shots with drives on Green at the rim. They want to force you into contested tough jumpshots and will be aggressive at staying attached on drives. With Paul and Curry I want you to be super aggressive being physical initiating contact on all of your screen roll drives. I want you to be on the attack with it.
SCORING ON THEM IN SCREEN ROLL
REPORT
The rim has to be the goal. They don’t protect the rim well. Rejects on screen/rolls is a huge weapon with them. Their guards die on screens a lot. Make sure your screener’s make great contact with their defenders, especially with Curry/Paul. Be aggressive with your drives and initiating contact. Change your speeds and attack that rim. You will have floaters and lay ups at the rim if you attack them enough. Be patient, move the ball, and screen well and there will be plenty of shots. When their bigs switch out space the floor, line them up, and attack them. Lobs with Vic/Cold Play will definitely be in play(no pun intended)
OPENINGS FOR 3 POINT SHOTS
REPORT
Get to your spots early in transition, sprint to the corners extra hard they will give up ball movement look ahead 3 Point Shots in transition. Drive and kick 3PT shots are open season on them as well. They don’t sprint out to shooters on drive and kick paint kick outs. If the ball moves and your teammates actually pass the ball there will be shots. Also lets start doing more of the ball fake passes to get the defender to flinch to open up your shots as well.

Yeah like I’m going to give you magic beans to be able to keep this asshole scoreless. Better chance seeing me in a Calvin Klein Ad. Expect a ridiculous number of screen rolls set for him. If he gives it up early on screen roll he will be cutting to the other side to come off if not one then multiple screens to get open for shots. Loves to drive/Kick and then space for 3. This dude is always moving and looking for shots. On screen rolls he is a complete wild card with snakes/rejects to fuck up the game. Comes off a ton of pins if not when he gives it up early and sprints to the other side, but also just straight pins when he is off the ball on offense. You need to stay connected to him for 94 feet. Stay connected on all drives and everything needs to be contested. The philosophy that you need to take when guarding him is 94 feet of pressure, showing hands 100% of the time. Do not lunge at him at all and stay solid. By all means necessary stay down on his jumpers and show the ref hands on ALL drives. Keep him off the free throw line and keep him to one side. If he is going to score 30 today let him do it with tough ass shots that will shut down social media for a month. No fouls, no going for fakes and allowing easy drives. Stay on him 100% of the time and don’t let him breathe. Every shot is contested. Go for zero fakes. Don’t let him open up drives or space by leaving your feet.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Doesn’t make a ton of mistakes. He gets lazy at times with the ball and throws a fucked up pass. You need to give him 94 feet of pressure and constantly getting your hands up/out and into passing lanes. Only way that you will get him to throw the ball away is on deflections because of pressure and staying connected on drives showing hands and get him in the air without a teammate to pass to. You can’t let him get to his spots. I think starting to guard him at the point of the screen or 30 feet from the basket is moronic. You need to get into him at the end line and be on him the whole time. You need to wear him down and don’t give him any space to operate. GO FOR ZERO FAKES STAY ON THE FUCKING GROUND. Show hands on every drive and hand up to shoot over you.

Mostly will get him in screen roll/ spot up situations. Wants to get to his right hand for that mid range pull up on Mid Screen Roll or will drive kick space, or just spot up and look for his shot. Master of getting his shot in screen roll for pull ups, floaters, or getting to the rim. Need to pressure him 94 feet and piss him off when he is bringing it up and frustrate the fuck out of him. Will flop and cheat every step of the fucking way on offense. Push him to his left hand and stay connected to him the whole time. With Steph picking up 94 feet is to wear him down, for CP it is more to piss him off and get mad as fuck. The guy has an Assist/Turnover of 5.8 he isn’t going to throw the ball into the stands many times, but doesn’t like when things get harder for him, especially how you have the innate ability of pissing people off and being a pain in the ass when you pressure them. If you can deny him at times when he is off the ball do that as well. He is used to people picking him up at the screen and then contesting his shots while letting him get to his spots. Make it hard for him. Drives right 50% more times than left. Stay on that right hand and make him beat you with his left hand. Make sure you show the ref your hands on his drives he will be complaining to them all night and they love to give him calls. I swear he has pictures on everybody.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Only way that you will turn him over consistently is by pressuring the fuck out of him. He will cry to the ref so don’t have your hands on him on drives. Pick him up 94 feet and pressure him. Hands in passing lane and chest him up when he makes contact with you but show your hands. Give him no excuses and just pressure the fuck out of him until he gets frustrated and then do it more. Only way that you will get him out of his shit today is by pissing him off and being an asshole. You play that role well. You were taught in Durham, they are the NASA of making their players assholes.

You won’t probably guard him much, but might get crossed matched with him(now that I said that they will probably match you up with him because I am a fucking moron)You will see him mostly in spot ups, cuts, and screen rolls. Streaky shooter, but definitely can get hot. Good straight line driver. Show hands on his drives and don’t leave your feet on his shots as he likes to fake and drive. Make him shoot tough contested shots over you and show the ref your hands on all of his drives. He likes to fake and then either step through or try to create contact. Don’t give him the satisfaction be efficient on his fakes and just stay down and force him to shoot over you. Only shooting 36% from the 3PT line, but again he gets hot. Loves the mid range pull up so stay down on his shot and when he drives stay attached and show your hands to the ref and then give him a contested hand on his spot ups. Decent finisher shooting North of 60% at the rim. I would think he would try to post up up. Loves getting to that left block with either a bump backdown or rip you through with spins in the post.
TURNOVERS

Not the brightest bulb on the tree, will throw the ball anywhere at times. Not a big turnover guy just a lazy passer. The more he dribbles against you the more you have an advantage. Just stay solid, show hands, and don’t foul him. Stay connected on drives and expect if he drives you more than 1 dribble that he likes to spin on drives, just be aware of that.

Expect a high number of pin downs with his name on it. Threat to score when he crosses half court. I don’t care what type of up and down season he is having, Thompson can always be a problem in the half court. Stay connected to him at all times on pin downs. Give him zero space as his setup to get open is off the charts. Force him into contested shots and stay on the ground. Loves to fake and open up drives. His 3 biggest ways to score is pin down, spot up, and hand off. Stay connected and get that hand up on everyone of his shots. No fakes just stay down and stay solid on defense. I would deny the motherfucker if I could. Likes to tight curl at times and fuck with the defender. I would give up drives on him to stay connected and have Vic or Cold Play deal with that. Don’t give him easy catch and shoots and when he is off the ball spotting up , can’t over help on another player because that is just giving him 3PTS. Always know where he is and don’t give him a lot of time/space to ge this shot off. Solid finisher at 60% If he comes off a pin especially in floppy and doesn’t get open, good chance he is coming off another screener(s) on the other side. Stay aware of him at all times.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a high turnover guy. On Pin Downs he makes that quick pass to his screener especially when the defense shows two and the screener’s man get disconnected to help on him coming off screens. Get conditioned to whenever you come off the pin with him to get your hands up right before he catches to get ready for a deflection when he tries to make a play. On his drives off of pins or a hand off always have your hands off your sides and into passing lanes or even try for a strip. He doesn’t try to do too much off the dribble, but he isn’t a strong ball handler. You definitely can get deflections on his passes or strip him when he drives the ball. But, be on alert for those quick passes coming off pin downs.

Cutter and Screen Setter. Will spot up at times, but his biggest contribution on offense is setting on ball screens and rolling to the rim or cutting to the dunker area. He plays hard and looking to get to the rim. Doesn’t take that many 3’s but likes the corners for spot ups. Be careful off the ball and know where he is as he likes to cut into the paint and make a play. Watch out for his cutting
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a strong ball handler. If he is handling the ball, push him to his right hand. Sets a lot of illegal screens on the ball so sell that could get a call or two. Get him to his right hand and try to strip the ball from him. Doesn’t handle it a ton

Push him right. Will see him in a lot of spot ups/screen rolls/hand offs. Wants to get to his left hand. Shoots 37% from 3PT and can create space to get it. Very good floater game going to his left, never shoots it with his right. Stay down on his fakes and show hands on his drives. Will probably back you down and throw some type of fake at you and try to get to that left hand for a hook so take this left away and force him to his right hand/left shoulder. Solid finisher, initiates contact on drives so show hands and stay on your feet. Force him to shoot contested shots. Don’t leave your feet on anything and play him solid. Take away his left ( Just in case I haven’t mentioned it yet). If he brings the ball up pick him up full and make his life hard. Smart player and good cutter. Oh yeah one more thing, keep him off his left hand.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Push him going right and take his space away. Push up on him and have active hands. He isn’t a huge turnover guy but you have to make him uncomfortable. Push him right and don’t let him get back to his left hand. Stay on the ground, loves using the fake to open up his straight line drive. If you keep him right, pressure the fuck out of him, and active hands on his drives you will get him throwing the ball away.

Good straight line driver and energy guy. Average 3PT shooter at best. Show hands on his drives and stay connected. Shooting 68% at the rim, besides Steph probably their best finisher. Doesn’t do too much on offense but don’t leave your feet to open up his drives. Push him to his left hand. Drives right 70% of the time. Don’t send him to the line, every shot is contested and on the floor. Not much of a playmaker so active hands on all of his drives and get your hands in passing lanes.
