MIAMI HEAT SCOUTING REPORT
SCREEN/ROLL COVERAGE
REPORT
They do a great job of getting into the ball handler’s body on screen/roll. Rozier believe it or not is one of their better on ball defenders when it comes to screen/roll defense. Rozier,Martin, Richardson will do a very good job of taking space away into the screen. Herro isn’t too interested in defending. He won’t quit on it, just not going to give the effort that the other 3 will give. Obviously we know what Butler can do on the ball. Anchoring their defense is Bam. Bam isn’t a big time shot blocker, but does a good job with their team defense protecting the rim and giving great effort with Verticality. He doesn’t play up on the ball handler as he is in a semi active drop coverage where he keeps the ball handler in front but is retreating towards the rim. Don’t give them time to get into you and load up defensively. Be on the attack, especially for floaters and mid range pull ups on straight drives and snakes. Move the ball to get a great shot. When you are in screen/roll or hand off with Vic, take the extra dribble stop stretch them out and then make the play to Vic. If they stay connected to him, take advantage of that. I think there will be paint pull ups and floaters open all night. Getting to the rim, you should wait until Bam is out and they go second unit.
SCORING ON THEM IN SCREEN ROLL
REPORT
Floaters and Mid Range Pull Ups especially with Rozier and Bam in the coverage. If Eminem tries to guard you then you attack him as he is not a good on ball defender and you can be more efficient trying to get to the rim. Be aware of Bam and where he is. In the second unit when they go with Love he’s easier to score on than a Vegas Stripper. Attack that motherfucker all day and all night you should have very little problem there. Very little to no switching from what I see they will fight through screens to get back in front , Bam will stay in front and then they will bump him out. Off ball , get to the corner and use your fakes to open up your drives. Move the ball force them to keep moving. Drive , kick, and re space. I think you can get a lot done with pitches and following your pass to attack. They thrive off of teams that don’t move the ball, over dribble, and jack up shots.
OPENINGS FOR 3 POINT SHOTS
REPORT
Simple plays, move the ball, and drive the ball into the paint. Drive and kicks , force two defenders on the ball and make plays for perimeter players. Transition 3PT shots off of ball movement as well as off the dribble. There will be opportunities to get shots corner 3PT shots and ball movement to spot ups.

Talk about a square peg in a round fucking hole. He’s fucked this team up every which way. He turned this team from the 2022-2023 Heat to the 2023-2024 Spurs in 2 weeks lol. He’s shooting 33% from the field including 22% from 3PT. He’s used to having the ball in his hands and dribbling out the clock in Charlotte and is really struggling playing more off the ball in spot ups. Every time he gets the ball he puts the ball on the floor and everyone just watches him. Not only is he struggling, but Butler and Herro doesn’t know how to function with him. He spots up a lot and operates in the corner. Loves to drive middle from corner in either corner for running hooks/floater.Uses his body on drives to get to his spots. Loves to drive and spin. This motherfucker likes to dribble like he’s searching for buried treasure under the court. Stay connected with him and show hands on every drive. He will take a ton of bad and tough shots. Make them contested and stay on your feet.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Doesn’t turn the ball over a ton. Not a great playmaker or accurate passer. Stay connected to him get to a hip and keep him dribbling. The more he dribbles the more he fucks up. Show hands and chest up on his drives.

Heavy with Screen/Roll and Hand Offs. Never met a shot he didn’t like. Loves the pop up jump shot off the dribble on screen roll and hand offs. Never stops moving. Have to stay attached to him at all times and entice drives to the rim. Shooting 45% at the rim , which is fucking terrible. Not a goof finisher at all, bring him into the help and stay on his hip forcing him to drive in one direction. Don’t go for any fakes and just stay on his hip. Obviously can straight line drive and finish at the rim if there is no help, but really struggles finishing over people. Contest all his deep shots, shooting 40% from 3PT. Over dribbles with everything. A slightly more efficient Zach Lavine. Expect to see him in hand offs up top to an immediate Screen/Roll with Bam. Rearview challenges and stay on your feet. Loves to snake.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a high turnover player, although the way he passes you think he was high at times. Likes to drive in the paint and leave his feet. Sometimes on normal drive/kick passes not accurate and passes it to the other team or out of bounds. Not very accurate. Show hands at all times and try to get at his ball to get deflections. Struggles sometimes in deep drives on his turnovers, but again only averages about 2.3 TO’s a game. Not a huge number. Just pressure him and show hands .

A lot of pick and rolls as well as isolations. Likes to face you up and jut drive you to the rim. Finishes at 59% which is a decent number. Be careful when he is on the wing and passes to the top, they like to run him off back screens right after his passes. He will try to bully you on back downs for sure. I don’t know how much you’ll be guarding him I just wanted you to get a look just in case you are crossmatched onto him during the game. Show hands and do not foul easily. Force him into tough contested shots. Not shooting much from deep, most of his damage is done in the mid range and at the rim. Push up on him whenever he handles the ball on screen/roll. or isolations. Overrated ball handler , but no one challenges him on it. Likes to bump on drives to create contact. Do not easily send him to the line. Stay on your feet and go for no fakes.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Overrated ball handler. Will get the ball tipped or stripped (not at a strip club) at times. You have to be a pest and have active hands on his drives when you are on ball and even when you are off ball and he drives in your direction. Not a big turnover guy but you can definitely get deflections on him, but you have to work for it. A lot of times he isn’t pressured so it isn’t an issue. When someone really gets attached and forces the issue then it is a different story.

Will get the ball mostly on spots ups off the ball. Moves very well without the ball on cuts, they use him a lot as a screener to pop and space to make plays. Good straight line driver and finishes at the rim just below 70%. They have so many ball handlers that he sprints to spots or sets screens to open up offense. Average to below average 3PT shooter at 34%. Solid player, gives them energy. Drives left 70% of the time. Loves to go left on drives. Show him hands and contest everything. Stay on your feet go for hero fakes. Stay connected, likes to sprint out from paint to perimeter to try to make plays.
TURNOVERS

Very low turnover guy. Plays the game solid , doesn’t get out of his comfort zone much when he plays. Stay solid on him , show hands on every drive.

He’s been struggling of late. Spot up and Hand Off Threat. Have to challenge every shot. Moves a lot without the ball in his hands. Can stop on a dime from a hard cut to shoot the ball. Loves to fake and side step or fake to open up a straight line drive for his floater. Stay connected to him and contest every shot. Stay down on his fakes and definitely don’t go for fakes. Shooting 40% from 3PT , but only 35% in the last 10 games, which for him is like me eating salads for a month straight. Pretty good straight line drive floater game which he opens up on shot fakes and drives. Uses his sidesteps as well so be careful of leaving your feet as he will take advantage. Doesn’t just spot up and shoot and do it off the move as well. Keep an eye on him at all times, especially off the ball, know where he is.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a huge turnover guy, but in the last 10 has been struggling with Assist to TO under 1.0. Not a strong ball handler you can get deflections and back taps for sure. Active hands and make the effort you can have him cough a couple up.

Basketball Catfish. He is just a bottom feeding motherfucker. Will cut from the wing, operate out of the dunker and just come up with the ball when they need it. Smart player and just plays solid. Has struggled the last 10 games or so, but has been very effective. He likes backing you down and using his body for offense. They will flare him and then have him backdown from the break area. Plays hard and gets to his spots. They run very little to him , he just creates opportunity when he is in the game. Cuts a lot and finds himself in some pick and rolls. Watch out for his cutting from the weak side into the paint, preferably from the wing. Also the backdowns he will almost definitely get into.
