NEW YORK KNICKS SCOUTING REPORT
SCREEN/ROLL COVERAGE
REPORT
One of the better defensive teams in the League. They have a lineup of mostly good on the ball defensive players. McBride is probably one of their best on ball active defenders. He is disciplined, can stay in front of you, and very active hands. Josh hart is a very active and disciplined on the ball defender and will get into you and try to push you to their bigs in coverage. Divincenzo swipes a lot and tries to get steals. His hands are active but makes the most mistakes with lunging for steals and leaving his feet on jumpers be aware of him. Brunson is a solid on the ball defender but nothing special. He is disciplined and a good team defender. As far as rim protection, they just got Robinson back from injury, he is probably their best shot blocker if not him than Achiuwa. Hartelstein is a solid defender and can get a block or deflection, but isn’t going to challenge at the rim like Robinson and Achiuwa. Ball needs to move and you have to hunt great shots agains this team as they will force you into contested tough shot after contested tough shot.
SCORING ON THEM IN SCREEN ROLL
REPORT
They won’t lay down in the least in their coverage and let you have easy shots. To score against them I think it will come in the form of rejects on screen roll and snakes. Keep their guards moving and pull their bigs out of the paint. Be aggressive in looking for drives. I think you’ll get floater opportunities when their bigs are in drop. Use your dribble and probe around to look for great shots. The ball needs to move, because if it doesn’t and you r team just jacks up bullshit, this game will be over quick. Attack them in screen/roll and be physical with hunting contact vs your defender. You have to strike first with them and initiate contact on screen roll, especially against McBride, Brunson, Hart, and Divincenzo. Remember Divincenzo will gamble and reach as well as leave his feet on perimeter jumpsuits. Probably the weakest big they have to drive/finish on is Hartenstein.
OPENINGS FOR 3 POINT SHOTS
REPORT
Het to your spots early in transition. You can get some looks there. Once they are int he half court they will contest everything. They fire out to drive and kick 3PT shooters so ig you are going to get them in the half court they will be highly contested. This team has a lot of energy defensively and get out to shooters. I think in transition if the ball finds you that is where you will get most of your chances in those look ahead wing/corner catch & shoot 3PT shots.

OFFENSE
REPORT
Very efficient high usage scorer. Will see him in Screen Roll/ISO/Spot Up/Hand Off Situations. Physical guard, loves creating contact on his drives. Stay on the ground as he loves to use fakes off the ball to set up drives as well as after the drive to get to the free throw line. Shooting 47% from the field and 40% from 3PT. He loves to drive and spin as well as use that half spin to get you leaning. You have to pick him up full and be extremely active with your hands against him. He gets to his spots, but you have to make him work harder to get there. Push up on him, he can go left as well as right doesn’t favor one side. Loves to spin and get you off balance to set up and create space for his shots. Stay on your feet as if he gets you off your feet consistently you are fucked. Stay down, contest everything and just stay solid. On his backdowns stay centered with your balance as he will back you down for a shot, spin you, or use the half spin. Defenders that are off balanced or go for fakes get touched for 38 against him. Show hands on all of his drives and pick him up as soon as he is on the floor. He does get frustrated at times and does push off from time to time. Solid finisher at 56% at the rim.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a huge turnover guy, but definitely be active in getting to his ball. He is average/short length. He does struggle at times at getting back tapped on drives. If you get hit on screen roll chase him from the back to try to get a tip. Be active with your hands when he is trying to make entry passes. He does throw a few a way from time to time if he is pressured. When he drives right he tends to push off so sell that for sure. Active hands and show those motherfuckers on every drive.

OFFENSE
REPORT
Most of his offense will come from spot ups and hand offs. Moves very well without the ball. Shooting 40% from 3PT on 8.4 attempts so he will get them up. You have to stay connected with him off hand offs as he is looking to put shots up quickly. When he gets in any type of trouble handling the ball he will pitch it and follow his pass. Like I said earlier, he moves very well without the ball. have to contest every shot and stay on your feet. Jam his dribble whenever he tries to put the ball on the floor and over dribble on an ISO or get into screen/roll. Do not leave your feet on his fakes and have to show hands on every drive. Solid finisher at 56% at the rim. Smart player, they will hand him off a lot from the corner coming middle for a 3PT shot or drive to the rim. Show hands on all of his drives and get ready for deflection opportunities. Loves the hand off 3PT shot at the wings.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a big turnover guy. Keep the pressure on him and stay attached. On his drives stay attached to his hip with active hands and force him to be a playmaker more than he wants to be. He is one of those types of players if you stay solid and show hands on his drives he could make bad passes or get deflected. Active has ty to actively poke the ball away from him. He sometimes tries to get away with pushing off on drives, show the ref your hands and stay solid

Spot up player, lives off straight line drives, running the floor, cutting, and being active. You have to keep him off the glass, as he is very good at cutting in front he perimeter and getting put backs. Only shooting 30% from the 3PT, but he NBA skill is his movement without the ball and being an active player. Plays hard as fuck don’t go for any fakes and just show your hands on all of his drives. Off the ball keep him off the offensive glass and check your area on the shot just in case he sprints in for the offensive put back. No holds or fouls 25 feet from the basket. stay solid and stay connected. Contest his shots and stay on your feet.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Low turnover player. Stay connected on his drives as he tends to leave his feet on drives and gets caught in the air for turnovers. Stay solid and show hands on all drives. Don’t leave your feet and just keep him in play.

Spot up player very effective shooting 43% from 3PT. Play mostly off of the ball for spot ups/straight line drives. Will handle it in screen roll from time to time. Have to get out to him and honest his shots. Solid finisher on straight line drives, stay on your feet for fakes. Contest his shots and don’t give him easy looks. Force him to put the ball on the floor and stay attached to him while showing the ref your hands on every drive. He will get to his spots by being a screener and spacing quickly or relocating for his catch and shoot.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Not a strong ball handler try to get deflections on his dribble. If you are off ball and he drives your direction take a swipe at him. Keep him dribbling and force him to be a playmaker. I would pressure him immediately.
