PHILADELPHIA 76ERS SCOUTING REPORT
SCREEN/ROLL COVERAGE
REPORT
They are inconsistent with pressuring the ball in screen/roll. With Embiid back now, they are different as far as the big’s anchoring their screen/roll defense. Maxey is probably their best on the ball wing defender. Oubre will give you pressure at times but nothing to really worry about all that much. Lowry doesn’t have much left in the tank as far as staying in front, but he has an unreal IQ for swiping at the ball on/off ball so be careful with that. Embiid is their best shot blocker, but doesn’t move great laterally, but takes up a shit load of space. Thy mostly funnel you to him and he will challenge. Paul Reed gives a much better effort chasing down ball handlers and challenging. They have decent size on the perimeter and force you into tough contested shots. You will face switching especially with Harris/Reed. Embiid will at times.
SCORING ON THEM IN SCREEN ROLL
REPORT
The key to scoring against them in Screen/Roll is being aggressive driving against their guards and then navigate what Embiid is going to do. If Embiid is back then shoot the floater if he engages then drive him to the rim and make the read if you can get our shot off or not. I think if you pull him out from the charge circle area and force him to move his feet you can get easy shots at the rim or at least draw fouls on him. Like I said before, their guards are inconsistent with effort level. My opinion is they will take you lightly and there will be a lot of opportunity to score against them and by the second time out will be a different mindset of how they guard you. I don’t fear any of their perimeter players as far as being stoppers on defense. Attack the fuck out of them and make them react to you, not react to what defense they are in. You will have floaters/layup opportunities as well as drive and kicks for perimeter shooters, but you need to be aggressive and have the mindset of attack and living in the paint.
OPENINGS FOR 3 POINT SHOTS
REPORT
A lot of drive and kick opportunities. Do your shot prep early from corner 3PT shots, hopefully the ball moves enough to get looks. I want you to be aggressive looking for transition 3PT shots off the dribble as well as the catch. Next level of your development shooting the 3 is dribble pull ups. Your shot is coming along well and want you to continue to have the confidence to shoot that shot.

Obviously you will see him in a lot of screen/roll, spot ups, hand offs, and ISOs. He is a big stepback/pullback offensive player on the perimeter. Does a lot of dribbling. Wants to get to that right hand for the most part. Decent shooter, nothing great at 37.5%, but has deep range and can get hot. Operates deep from the basket and will launch shots up. Decent finisher, mostly attacks defenders that sit on that 3PT shot and lunge and he uses that to his advantage. Will pitch to teammates and follow his passes for drives. I wouldn’t say he is a high level finisher, so Vic(If he is playing) can clean up any overplaying that you do on their perimeter that ends up in a Maxey Drive. Stay connected to him on everything and push him left on everything. Stay on your feet, do not bail him out with any fouls. Everything is a contested shot and you need to stay on your feet. Stay down on all that pullback over dribble bullshit. Just let him dribble the air out of the ball and contest everything he shoots. Push up on him everywhere. Show hands and be solid
TURNOVERS
REPORT
He tends to get loose with the ball a lot. Stay connected to him and active hands. He does get stripped at times when he over dribbles and exposes the ball. Keep your hands out and try to get to his ball when he over dribbles. Stay connected to him and push him left. Not a high turnover guy, but he can let a couple slip if you are aggressive and show hands and try to get to him.

Dangerous scorer when you give him space. Wants to drive the ball going left, especially from the top . Not the brightest bulb on the tree , but plays hard as fuck. Don’t give him space , stay connected to him, and push him right. Wants to play physical and initiate contact with his defender. Sill play off the ball and drive on the catch, or spot up for jumpers. Streaky shooter, not a high percentage guy but always looking to attack. Stay on the ground on everything and show hands on all of his drives. Doesn’t have brakes, so you can get a charge or three against this dude. That elevator definitely doesn’t go to the top floor. Shooting 31% from the 3PT, but that won’t stop him from jacking up 5 of them. Just push him right, stay connected , and make him face a contested hand on every shot. He’s a good cutter, so be on the lookout for that when he is off the ball, and keep him off the glass. He’s a good offensive rebound/put back guy

Terrible passer, I think the motherfucker selling Nachos has a better A/TO than Oubre does. Very loose with the ball and will throw that motherfucker everywhere. Stay solid with him and stay connected. You can definitely get at least one charge on him as he just drives to the basket with zero fucks or thoughts in his head besides maybe a Bugs Bunny Cartoon. Show hands especially on screen rolls and drives he will throw 2-3 turnovers without question.

Will see him mostly on spot ups, get in some screen roll, and coming off hand offs. 38% 3PT shooter, plays off of Maxey/Embiid spotting up for the most part. Have to play him for the 3 and challenge everything. Smart player, doesn’t hav e a lot of explosiveness left in the tank, but he is crafty and knows how to get to his spots. Likes to drive kick and space, so know to keep on him after he drives and kicks as he will look to space to get his shot. Stay down on his fakes and contest everything. He is stubby and short armed like a fucking Teddy Bear so contest everything and force him to shoot over a hand on every shot. Uses his body and likes to initiate contact, so show hands on drives and don’t bail him out. Go for zero fakes.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Get your hands on everything. He is short armed and will turn it over at times if you are aggressive. I don’t care if you are on/off ball with him if he is in your direction try to make a play on the ball. Stay connected with him and show hands everywhere.

You will see him in a lot of screen rolls and spot ups off the ball. 39% 3PT shooter. Will drive either right or left. Very good floater going right or left. Will look to score more Ethan make plays for others. Dn’t give him easy looks. Challenge his shots and contest. Stay on the ground and be solid. He is loose with the ball and will make some moronic plays at times. Push up on him and keep him dribbling. The more he dribbled, the better chance of something dumb happening. Not a good finisher at the rim, very below average, but ironically good floater shooter. The world is a fucked up place. Plays with energy looking to attack and get shots up. Don’t go for any fakes just stay solid.

Keep the pressure on him, he will cough it up. Very loose with the ball, just keep hands active and push up on him.

Aggressive offensive player. Never stops moving. Coming off pins, coming off DHO’s, drive kick re space. Get ready to move against him. He will get shots off in a second so your hands have to be ready to contest at all times against him. Stay connected on pin downs and hand offs. Analytics says he is driving left 80% of the time. Stay on your feet at all times and contest everything. Gets to the line less than once per game so he is looking more to get jumpers off than draw fouls. Shooting 39% and getting almost 7 off coming off the bench. Make him dribble the ball. Not a smart player and will make mistakes. Deep jumpers and pull ups soon hand offs is where he does his most damage.
