SACRAMENTO KINGS SCOUTING REPORT
SCREEN/ROLL COVERAGE
REPORT
29th in Shot Blocking.. They do a good job pressuring the ball and funneling it into the help. Fox is one of the quickest guards in the league and will come up steals with lunges and swipes if you don’t protect the ball. They switch a lot especially to Murray & Barnes. Sabonis is a good team defender but not a shot blocker and definitely can be driven on. Murray has size and is long but isn’t a great stopper of getting in front of drivers. Huerter AKA Malibu’s Most Wanted can be driven on all day as he gives zero fucks about defense. Their best trait is at the point of the screen, but they really struggle with teams that attack them and attack the rim in their coverages. Fox is inconsistent in his focus on guarding in their coverages. He gives you some friction early, but tends to die on screens and after the initial screen loses heart and energy. Be careful of his swipes at the ball. Their biggest weakness is giving up scores at the rim. Huerter and Fox leave their feet on shot fakes and can be exploited for that.
SCORING ON THEM IN SCREEN ROLL
REPORT
Getting to the rim needs to be your focus with these guys. They do give you physicality at the point of the screen, but give up a ton of drives to the rim. Keep your dribble and be on the attack. As the game goes on , Fox will die down with his pick and roll defense. They will give up a lot of shots at the rim and floaters. On switching with Screen/Roll-Hand Offs line them up and look to drive. They don’t really have a shut down defender. I would say their best on ball defender is Harrison Barnes as far as being focused and smart about it. Tonight is all about being aggressive and looking to drive. I will cover it in the next section, but drive and kick 3PT shots will be there all night. I don’t think they do a great job at rotating to shooters after putting multiple defenders on the ball. It all comes down to how aggressive you are wanting to get in the paint/rim. With Vic’s roll’s/pop’s their bigs will give even less resistance to you on your drives as they will be so worried about his lobs to the rim that after the 1st/2nd dribble they will get back to Vic so floaters/lay ups will be on the table for sure.
OPENINGS FOR 3 POINT SHOTS
REPORT
Still 30th in Opponent 3PT FG%. They five up a ton of drive and kick 3PT shots. If the ball moves you should have a ton of corner 3PT opportunities. They give up a lot of paint drives and are very average at rotating out. Be aggressive getting the ball in the paint and you will find your shooters. For you, off the ball corner 3PT shots on swing swings and ball movement will be there for you. Transition wise as well get to your spots and if there is a transition 3PT shot(s) available I think you should go for it. But they give up a ton of looks, take advantage of it.

You’ll see him in a lot of screen rolls. You have to give him pressure and get him out of his comfort zone. Push him right as much as possible on the dribble. He is physical and looking to imitate contact. Likes to backdown guards 3-4 times a game. Show hands on every drive and keep him right as much as possible. Decent finisher at the rim shooting 62%. Stay on your feet and contest every shot. Loves to spin on drives, make sure you are showing hands on every drive. If he is too fast to guard in the backcourt then pick him up consistently at half court and show him constant pressure. When you give him too much space he drives and gets to the rim at will. On wing closeouts off the ball keep him to the baseline and not middle. Struggling from 3PT last 10 shooting 29%.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Loose with the ball. Tends to throw the ball everywhere as a passer, especially when pressured. Get into the ball and don’t give him space to operate. Not an accurate passer, show hands on every drive and make it hard on him. When the game is up and down and he is facing limited pressure those are the games he dominates. Averaging almost 4 turnovers a game in the last 10. Get up in him and pressure the fuck out of him.

They will run him off of a ton of hand offs. He is aggressive trying to get his shot coming off of them. You have to stay connected to him and make things hard on him. Contest every shot and stay on your feet as he likes to fake and drive. He finishes at the rim at 68% so when he gets to driving he usually has a step on his defender. He doesn’t force much and try to do things that he can’t do. 36% 3PT shooter , streaky and easily gets fucked up if you guard him close and contest everything. He is a good cutter out of the corners, keep your eye on him. Spots up off the ball and can spot up and shoot or straight line drive finishes. Don’t rest on him he is always looking to move into the next hand off and if he can’t get his shot he will throw to someone else and come off another hand off. Stay connected.
TURNOVERS
REPORT
Low turnover guy doesn’t do anything crazy with the ball. Keep the pressure on him and active hands coming off hand offs and drives. Pressure him and take him out of his comfort zone.

Heavy spot ups , hand offs and will cut when you overplay him. You won’t cover him a ton but he is looking to come off the bal off and shoot. Stay connected and contest everything. Stay on your feet with his fakes and have active hands on all of his drives. He will look for the easy way out mostly on a spot up, and pull up. Doesn’t like physicality. 36% 3PT shooter. Good finisher, doesn’t try to do too much. 67% shooter at the rim. Will try to initiate contact on drives likes to swing those elbows on drives. Loves to operate from the wings, especially on spot ups and hand offs.
TURNOVERS

Low turnover guy, but not a great ball handler. Active hands every time he puts the ball on the floor. Not going to try to make a crazy play.

Pound for Pound the most aggressive offensive player that they have. Heavy doses of screen/roll and hand off. Always moving and always looking to get his shot off. Below average finisher , looking more for the dribble pull up/paint pull up than getting all the way to the rim unless you are trailing him on a hand off and he can get there. Shooting 54% at the rim(The Average is low 60’s you are shooting 68.5%) High efficient floater that he will use on hand off drives. Likes to set up off the ball on the left corner. He will cut if you top block the hand off or screen roll. He is always moving. Pressure him heavily force him to over dribble. Not a lot of defenders tries to pressure him in the back court or at half court. Make it hard on him and stay on his hip on drives. Show your hands do not bal him out and foul him.

Hard playing second unit player. Spot up player that is trending up as a shooter. Shooting 61% from 3PT in the last 10 games. Doesn’t put it on the floor a lot unless it is a straight line drive. Contest his shots and stay on the ground. Mostly a spot up player and straight line driver. Will come off hand offs like every other fucking player on that team. No easy looks.
